PET ADOPTION PROCESS

Step 1: View profiles of our adoptable dogs and cats

We also encourage you to attend one of our upcoming adoption events. We want to help you find the perfect pet for you. Our adoption counselors and fosters are available to answer any questions you may have.

Step 2: Have you filled out an application in the past 3 months? If so, no need to fill out another one! Send an email to: http://www.roanecountypaws.org and we’ll help you get the process started again.

You will be asked questions about your living/household situation, previous experience with animals, and lifestyle. Some of these questions may seem intrusive or extreme; we ask them to make sure you are matched with the best pet for your lifestyle, and also fully understand the commitment and responsibilities of adopting a pet.

A volunteer will email you if there are any questions about your application. Otherwise, you will receive an email (usually within 48 hours) informing you that your application has been approved.

Submit the form below to let us know which animal you are interested in adopting.
Step 3: Set up a time for one of our team members to come to your home for a home visit.
Step 4: Have a meet-and-greet with the animal you are interested in adopting. Bringing your pets and children with you to this is recommended so they can also meet and interact with one another.
Step 5: If you are selected for that particular animal, you will then need to fill out final paper work, pay an adoption fee, and be given all health records on that particular animal, you will receive an email from RCP (within three business days) with your pet’s medical records. We will contact you periodically after adoption to ensure your newly adopted pet is working out in your new home. We ask that you respond to our inquiries within 24 hours.

If you need any help, or do not receive your pet’s medical records, please contact us at http://www.roanecountypaws.org
